Are you talking about Half-Life 1?
Then there are 2 possibilites why you have max 50fps:
1. You have set the console command fps_max to 50 -> set it up to the value you want.
2. You have a TFT-Monitor which is running with 50Hz. Then search your graphic options: right click on desktop, properties, the rightest column "settings", click on the right bottom button "extended" and search that popping up menu for V-Sync and disable it.
Did the tips solve your problem? Because I cant imagine of another reason. I'm getting fps drop downs to 30 or 40 from time to time (although I own a quite strong Pentium 4 with 3GHz), but the named two reasons why HL1 could be limited to 50fps (really always 50fps, not just one more or less?) are the only ones I know.
Yo! Try adding these lines to your autoexec.cfg file in steam, save the file and set it to "read only". See if there are any changes. Also, check steam and see if you are running it in Open GL. If so run in software mode.
To raise FPS , you need to go into your config and in that section you can raise it I raise my 127 and it seemed to know you don't check it out and see if it helps you. Goodbye BADRAD
